Information
Here be the page of miscellaneous random information about Mysidian Legend - the what and the why in the form of teal deer.
The heck's a lunar whale?
The Lunar Whale is an epic airship of epic awesomeness (it can go to the moon. Come on, Ragnarok aside, how often do we get airships you can take to outer space?) in the game Final Fantasy IV. It's full of sweetness like nifty pod-things for you to sleep in and it even comes with its own mechanical Fat Chocobo for your use in training Whyt and uh... whatever else Fat Chocobos do. Did I mention it can fly IN SPACE? Oh. And also possibly something about it being the subject of legends in Mysidia, a wizarding town.
A legend in Mysidia, you say?
All ancient places have legends, and Mysidia is no exception. The legend refers to a "Chosen One" that will basically save the world. In the game there are multiple interpretations of what the legend is referring to - one interpretation says that the main character, Cecil Harvey, is the Chosen One after his transformation from Dark Knight to Paladin, or Holy/White Knight (in that he holds both darkness and light - first giving into darkness as a Dark Knight, then embracing light as he becomes a Paladin), another is that the legend proves the existence of the Lunar Whale, while a third believes it refers to both. There is plenty of evidence within the game that all three are perfectly reasonable explanations. The translations of the legend from all three English versions of the game (SNES, PSX/GBA, DS) can be found below; you may choose which translation you like better, and which interpretation you prefer.
SNES PS/GBA One to be born One born of a dragon From a dragon Bearing darkness and light, Hosting the light Shall rise to the heavens And the dark Over the still land. Arises high up The moon's light eternal In the sky to Brings a promise to Earth The still land. With bounty and grace. Veiling the moon with The Light of Eternity, It brings Another promise To Mother Earth with A bounty and mercy. DS Birthed from womb of Dragon's maw And borne unto the stars By light and darkness cast aloft Are dreamtide oaths resworn Moon is swathed in ever-light Ne'er again to know eclipse Earth, with hallow'ed bounty reconciled Yet fleeting is the reverie When moon from shadow has egressed Guided forth anew by light made manifest Two bound by ties of blood By Time and Fate when wrest apart Unto lunar light and Gaian breast
So what was the point of this?
The point was to give some background information on the domain name and title. Being that I am a very fickle person, I couldn't just keep all of my fanlistings in one collective; oh no, that would've made too much sense! For some reason I seem to have a rule of "buy a new domain for every fandom and spend ridiculous amounts of money doing it". Anyway.
Final Fantasy IV is one of my favourite games for many reasons, and as such it was one of the games I thought of when I was thinking of a name for the domain. There were a handful of others I'd considered (black-chocobo.net, taboo-noise.net, razril.org, na-nal.org, among others); eventually I decided on lunar-whale.org simply for the fact that it is one of the most awesome airships ever (there's also falgabard.org, but that's a story for another day).
TL;DR: I wanted a gaming domain and the Lunar Whale is awesome. Thus, lunar-whale.org. The end.
What are these fanlistings you speak of?
To state the obvious: a fanlisting is just a list of fans; a silly little site to show your love for a subject and a cheap excuse not to just shrine it nice way to meet other fans of the things you are also a fan of. Alternately, have the TheFanlistings.org's description:
A fanlisting is simply an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are) - they are just a place where you can have your name listed along with other fans of the same subject. TheFanlistings.org is the original (but not only) web directory for fanlistings, dedicated to uniting fans across the globe.
It's just that simple. You can find out more about fanlistings by visiting TheFanlistings.org or AnimeFanlistings.org.
